  • Medium Format Scans: Utah At Dusk

While tagging along with the drop in guys we got to ride some pretty rad trails. One of these happened to be in Ogden Utah just North of Salt Lake City. We rode the trail once, and then we decided to do a lap with the cameras. I got a flat tire literally on the second shot we had set up, so I hiked back up to the trail head where I had parked the faithful BlackBoxLabs van.

Now the road to this trail was a) gravel b) very steep and c) very exposed with cliff faces dropping away on one side, and cliff faces directly flush with the road on the other. As I started down the hill in the van I soon realized that I had lost of pressure in the brakes, and the pedal was going almost to the floor before the brake pads were able to make a slight amount of contact with the rotors. The drive became much sketchier as I encountered speeding rednecks and a wide RV heading up the camping zone at the top of the mountain.

Gearing down only did so much in the heavy van on the steep and loose hill. Some how I made my way down safely, I then had to negotiate rush hour traffic back into Salt Lake, which was awesome, I two foot braked all the way back to the campsite. I shot the Image while waiting for the guys to get down from the trail. September 2007 on Provia 100.
